Childbirth Classes
Because birth is a rite of passage
Transitioning into parenthood can be compared to going on a walkabout. A walkabout is a rite of passage or a ritual of transition; a process for dealing with major life changes or transitioning from one phase of life to the next. Becoming a parent is certainly a major life change!
These classes will take you on a journey through late pregnancy, labor, birth, and on becoming parents. Based on the book Birthing From Within, by Pam England, and the Birthing From Within principles, these classes will: I invite you to join me on your "Birth Walkabout" and discover what you already know to birth your baby, what it is you need to know to give birth in awareness, and to parent with love and mindfulness. LABOR & BIRTH PREPARATION CLASSES:
These classes are not your ordinary childbirth class. As mentioned above, they are based on the book, Birthing From Within, by Pam England. These classes are personalized to YOUR needs and interests, resulting in stimulating and lively discussions about birth and parenting. They will provide a balance of practical, useful information and creative, experiential exercises.
These classes are solution-focused, not outcome focused. They will provide you with tools to help you remain in the moment, in awareness, and doing The Next Best Thing, in pregnancy, in labor, in parenting, in every day ordinary moments!
SEVEN WEEK SERIES - In this series, we will spend seven weeks preparing for labor and birth. A workbook will be provided with this class that will include process excercises and space for notetaking and journaling. This workbook is complementary to the Birthing From Within book. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm; for class calendar, click here. Fee: $250; $75 deposit

WEEKEND IMMERSION - This description says it all...we will spend a weekend immersed in the preparation for labor and birth. A journal will be included in this class, which is complementary to the Birthing From Within book, providing space for note-taking, journaling, art-work and for continued personal work and discovery after class has ended. Class begins on Friday evenings at 6:30 to 9:30, then on Saturaday and Sunday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; for class calendar, click here. Fee: $250, $75 deposit

BIRTHIN' AGAIN - As the title implies, this is a one-day class for families expecting again. Whether you did not take classes before or are looking for additional tools to prepare for this birth, this class is for you. Class is held on either a Saturday or Sunday and begins at 9:30 am until 6:00 pm; for class calendar, click here. Fee: $100, $50 deposit**

NEWLY ADDED TOOLS & INFO
VBAC CLASS - Vaginal Birth After Cesarean - This one-day class is specifically designed for couples preparing to give birth vaginally after a previous cesarean. In order to move forward with your VBAC, attention will be given to your previous birth, discovering new solution-focused tools for your VBAC. We will discuss the current climate and risks surrounding VBACs, discuss and practice positions and pain coping tools, and spend time preparing siblings for the newest family member. Class is held on a Saturday or Sunday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; for class calendar, click here. Fee: $100; $50 deposit**
